520 mile or 800+ km range is the kind of capacity that when available in cheaper vehicles will really push EV into the mainstream. At that point road trips are a non issue as you need a longer break at least every 500 km or so anyway.
Charging for an hour every 200 km feels much different than charging every 600.
It depends which model. I own an EV and speaking from experience. The stated range is easily 25-30% lower at highway speeds. That means yes, you often have to charge a Tesla every 200km when doing a road trip.
I own one also (model 3) and regularly make ~400 mile (646 kms) trips at highway speeds and only have to charge for a total of 30 minutes. I usually stop twice to charge the lower end my battery but even if I need to stop once it is 35 minutes.
The new interior looks fantastic and is what I would expect for a car in the future. The only issue is I would have a tough time getting used to that steering wheel, but I'm guessing it is designed with autopilot in mind.
It was going to happen anyway. They needed to redo the 8 year old model.
They didn’t have any conferences planned in the next few months. Normally they have a battery day and an AI day they drop bombs that aren’t release day worthy.
As to why today vs schedule a release day next week? Cynical view is yah prop up poor earnings. Optimistic view is why schedule a conference for 15 minutes of content.
