Used kind + skaffold for 6 months and it was pretty solid. However, eventually switched to k3d and tilt and feeling like this combo is amazing. Cluster takes 2 seconds to create now.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've read that Amazon keeps low inventories for efficiency reasons, leaving the company vulnerable to supply shortages. Already the quarantine in China has disrupted some Amazon supply chains. It seems unlikely that Amazon can keep up with the current level of deliveries, let alone handle a surge in demand for staples needed in a widespread quarantine.
This seems like the real answer to this problem. I really like Nix conceptually, but the problem it's being used to solve in this case is already solved by Docker, and using a multistage build with a Distroless stage relies on fewer dependencies, fewer tools, and many fewer lines of config.
1. No sorry. Slack is already too chatty with bots and I end up leaving channels with git related output. I like to do git things in GitHub,gitlab, or terminal where I have full access to the toolsets. Email serves fine for notifications on PRs or things I have marked as watch.
2. No.
3. I don't think so. People seem to be quick to add these types of integrations but after 500 messages from git activity everyone ignores them or turns them off.
All my opinions of course. Maybe other people will love this.
1. I've heard the death-by-slack-notification complaint many times hehe. My way to combat this was to offer scheduled digests that could be daily/weekly or whatever frequency. It doesn't have to be slack it could be sent to email.
2. :-)
3. That's true. I think a lot depends on having the right amount of notifications...nothing more, nothing less. Unfortunately the native github/slack integration does very generic things that it's not that useful. That is why I am trying to be more specific.
I'm using opencv with facial detection running in the browser as JavaScript. The technology is here and isn't going away.
Realistically, smartphones are tracking everyone all the time and provide rich datasets. Camera, microphone, and GPS. If you turn off location services your phone still connects to cell towers, WiFi access points, and Bluetooth beacons, as you drive or walk around throughout your day.
The value prop isn't for the consumer, it's for Amazon. Stuffing Alexa into anything and everything means more usage overall and a more attractive platform for companies looking to sell their wares.
The upside is the satisfaction of solving sometimes interesting problems. Some people do crossword puzzles, some play video games. A rare few write operating systems used by perhaps billions of people.
