There's a difference between "everything is political" and "everything of importance to social functioning also has political ramifications".
The latter is almost undeniably true, and very much applies to technology. Calling that "everything is political" and dismissing it as such is nothing more than a thought-terminating cliche.
I think they are writing this to have a basis to exclude AfD members from the club. But I also wonder: Would Trump supporter be allowed to be a member?
