Sad to see that he doesnt mention the most major downside of modern nails: that theyre round in cross section and dont widen up the length of the shaft along one axis. This makes modern nails hold much worse than cut nails. Here is a great video that explains in detail about how much better cut nails are at holding and why:

Interestingly for modern stick framing construction this isnt actually really a disadvantage due to torsion construction techniques.
