This is happening in Germany.
My friend, living in London, sold information about my crypto investment to some high profile gang.
Since then, for the last 5 months, I had been followed, and observed 24/7, sometimes intimidated.
All my electronic equipment got hacked, computers, mobile phones, I previously asked about it here https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37506194
I believe their plan is to kidnap me silently without any witness and police involvement, extort me, and then kill me. Just disappear me. I also believe I avoided 2 attempts already.
When I hired private security, they lasted for 3 days before they got bribed and changed sides.
I don't care about the money anymore at this point, I would just happily give it all out away just to get my old life back, I just want to make it out alive at this point. But like Dr. Strange, I am calculating scenarios, and every one of them ends with me being dead.
If I give up and give them the money, they will kill me to erase the trace and the threat, in case I changed my mind later.
If I just burn the money, I can't prove that I don't have more. Maybe I could, but it's more involved.
Looks like the only state when I live is when I have the money and they chase me for it.
To make matters worse, because of miscommunication, they may think I have x30 more money than I do. I think my conversation with criminal lawyer got snooped through my hacked laptop, because things around me have changed after this talk, they become more proffesional. I later found some jornal logs that say something about device being configured in remote headset mode, or something like that. Anyway, the lawyer asked how much is at the stake, a million or more, but I was too lazy to calculate, so I just replied "I don't know how much the bitcoin is, I have between x and y" but didn't specify I meant bicoins, so now they may think I have many millions to steal.
The police won't help, they want evidence or the crime, which I don't have, it's rather hard to prove that somebody is following you. In regard to hacked equipment, their response is to just buy a new one.
I am so tired and exhausted at this point, with so much stress and sleepless nights, I look now like a heavy drug user. This whole thing feels like a crash with a freight train in slow motion.
I have no options really, I can't run, because I'm being followed, and because they have many friends and will find me easily. Besides, with life in 21 century is all digital, and these records are easy to obtain when you pay someone. If I stay, I make myself an easy target. Looks like the only option is to kill myself, same result, less suffering. This is philosophical of course, I am not intending to kill myself, and especially not over ducking money.
So, what the duck do I do to make it out alive out of this?
Edit: heckraiser suggested if I could pay them off. I tried.
They hacked my Andorid phone, which I noticed because it ate crazy amounts of battery, somthing like 7% in 10 minutes, I went back to dummy phones, so only used that one for certain tasks. When I taped out the cameras, usage went down, but still a lot. Weeks later I typed the message offering a deal to finish this, the result was the phone stopped eating the battery and went back to normal, they just removed the hack to erase the evidence. They don't want any deals, they want it all and to kill me.
If you’re certain you avoided 2 kidnapping attempts, can you get access to nearby security camera footage as evidence?
Spending 5 months following you without overtly trying to extort you doesn’t sound typical for a criminal gang. Not impossible, given the sums involved, but patience and caution aren’t their hallmarks.
Consider whether you are in the common age range for schizophrenia to manifest. Attempt to prove or disprove, with hard evidence that a 3rd party would believe, whether there really are external forces conspiring against you.
I would be asking myself which is more likely: that a criminal gang has been trying and failing to kidnap me for months, or that I currently cannot trust my perceptions.
I am not a doctor, lawyer, nor law enforcement officer and this is not medical, legal, nor personal safety advice.
