He very much took advantage of the adage, "a fool and his money are soon parted". On some level I can't even blame him. People are literally sending hundreds/ thousands of dollars in eth to people that just list an address and give vague mention of getting something valuable back. He probably figured, why not me? He could have just moved to Russia and have been fine. SEC frowns upon blatant scams though.
