Well, the one customer-a-week rate was while I had minimal effort into it.
Part of the efforts that I do see feasible for the short term:
- Adding different types of services. Instead of doing the hosting of whole instance, perhaps I could serve a niche of existing admins. E.g, global search on the fediverse is something that could be of interest of lots of people.
- Going upmarket. Instead of making instances for individuals/small groups, I can start offering something more focused on the SMB segment and charge accordingly.
- Packaging a course: for the life of me I do not understand why there are no influencers getting into the fediverse, or why there aren't more professional photographers setting up their own (ActivityPub-based) websites and using POSSE to distribute their content to the larger networks.

Yes, 100% agree. This is part of the reason that I am not going after VC. I'm also looking into all my other past projects (my profile describes some of them) and I would like to create a "portfolio of small bets".
