Khan Academy Rewrote their Back end (quastor.org)

Why have there been so many posts about this lately? I feel like there have been 3-5 posts from different sources about Khan academy moving from a Python 2 monolith to go micro services. It seems like an inordinate amount of coverage for something like this. What am I missing?

I lost all respect for Khan when they started ramming AI down students' throats.

Let the downvotes begin.

The decision process is confusing.

Python 2 -> Python 3 would have been an easier win but ok, not good enough.

Python 2 -> Kotlin would be logical choice since Kotlin is already in use? Why introduce another language just to save some memory?

Feels like a Resume++ by someone that just wanted to use Go.

I've never heard that and it's a silly thing to say. There's overlap of use cases, but it's a proper venn diagram and not a circle. It's not a drop in replacement for C.
