We have so much further to go to make product lifecycles sustainable. Not only do we need third party repair rights and general right to repair but we also really need devices not to be designed with planned obsolescence. Modern businesses don't mostly appear to be trying to make items that you'll use for the useful life of the product, they are designing them to last just long enough that you have to buy another one once the warranty has run out.
We very rapidly need to get off this type of thinking if we have a chance of not destroying our habitat. Its going to require a lot of legislation and its really clear companies will not be changing how they do business without being forced. Everything environment needs to be moving a lot faster as do consumer rights to repair the need has been apparent for decades.
