Not the point of the article but being a stock or nothing guy and saying there's no innovation is not very smart.

Eg. Samsung's brand of Android has floating multi windows. Split-screen app pairings. There's also Samsung Dex.

Pixel and Nexus are probably the most basic Androids you can get.
