I went looking for this after the reference to Jack Inman's "Implementing Loosely-Coupled Functions on a Tightly-Coupled Engine" from the recent (excellent) HN submission on Rust in the Linux Kernel[1]. The whole thing looks like a goldmine of great systems papers.
