Reflecting after the news of Hans Rosling's death from pancreatic cancer today and thinking of the cancer patients I know and knew left me wondering if better earlier diagnosis would help us in the fight against cancer and other deceases, and if there is anything hacker community at large could help with?
I understand this question is too broad. Some things I thought about: open source software and hardware for medical imaging (there is a project to build DIY ultrasound scanner), gathering your own personal data on genome, exome, microbiome and running analysis on it, gathering the history of regular blood tests? Gamification of the regular screening? Interactive explanations and/or games modeling processes within body?
