Depends on the JS implementation in question. And I think node uses one that optimizes string concatenation, possibly making that the fastest way to do it.
I'd even call this a statement of confidence in the longevity of Apple's own industrial design. There's a clear implication that Apple's design doesn't date easily.

The only way for them to get developers on their platform is to wait for the next generation of developers. Literally nobody will base anything on their stuff now, and this has been the case for a good few years.
Either "Games aren't real software", "If it's not in the US, we mostly don't care" or "Real Unicorns take VC and get acquired by Facebook, Microsoft acquisitions don't count".
