It uses Bing as a backup and for most general search. We have our own index that focuses on specific communities, including HN. Eventually you'll see more tailored search for that index, including a "privacy rank" and page size.
Hey, I remember coming across this before on HN! I don't have a dog, but I liked your site, story, and product. Glad to hear it's going well.
By the way, one significant issue I just noticed: if I visit your site on a phone, the name of the company is not visible anywhere near the top of the page. I see the logo has the company name, but it's tiny and not able to be read.
For me, it’s because my muscle memory for a mouse (which I use primarily on my work Windows computer, occasionally on my Mac laptop) is different than a trackpad (which I only use with my Mac laptop). Unfortunately, macOS doesn’t let you set different options for each.
I haven’t seen anyone else mention it, so FYI: Keynote on macOS defaults to exactly your preferred behavior: pasting images exactly in the middle of your slide.
I have to use both Keynote and PowerPoint for work and this is one of those small things I've come to appreciate.
Weird bug I've never seen before on any other site: I can't use the swiping feature on the Google Keyboard on an iPhone. Using swiping on the iOS 13 built-in keyboard worked fine though.
I have high hopes for this. It feels like Google already has best-in-class features (stuff like Auto-Awesome), but the Google+ integration was holding it back.
Speaking personally, I certainly didn't want to upload my private photos to a social network service where they could inadvertently become public.
