> three hours a day

This is silly and gets sillier from there.

You can maintain decent fitness on less time, or even slowly improve, but most unfit people cannot physically achieve the level of intensity required to see significant improvement with minimal time commitment. I say three hours firstly because the actual workout gets packed in with a lot of things that you will be doing to take care of your body, and that’s what it usually comes out to, but mostly because I’m tired of people asking me for shortcuts. Sorry, no, you’re not going to make it without sacrifices. It needs to be a priority.

If you want efficiency, here’s that list in order: Stop smoking, stop drinking, stop caffeine, stop snacking, stop social eating, prepare your own food, standing desk, commute by bike.

Whites are favored on dating apps (e.g. https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3244459) and the model proposed would make that division pretty explicit

how would it make the division explicit? Be specific. How would the pay to play messaging system benefit a rich white more than a rich black?

That’s the very specific point we are discussing, and my claim is that race is irrelevant in this discussion. If you have evidence to the contrary on exactly that point then I’d like to hear it.

Not some hand wavy vague generalisation on a tangential point, how would a pay to play messaging system benefit a rich white more than a rich black?

I don't think a rich white would be benefited more than a rich black in terms of sending messages on an individual level. (After all - if net worth is the same then a $ is a $) However - the part where they're responded to would be favored to a rich white instead of a rich black... but I don't think that would be any different than a non-pay system. And that's not correlated to rich white vs rich black - that's correlated with white vs black. :/

However, one could start arguing that because there are more rich white people than rich black people then the system favors whites more because whites hold more money to message people. Therefore, because of that, then the people who are messaging the most desirable will more likely be white (even if split of race in the country was 50/50 white/black - whites will be messaging more because their wealth on average is higher).

I don't think such a pay to message system should exist (even though many dating apps do implement a roundabout way of doing this - lol - they all implement some throttling mechanism that you can get around if you pay $$$).

I know, and I know. I was calling him on the “Rich white guy” racist trite.

This is hilarious.

Because white people are more wealthy than those of other races. That is a hardcore socioeconomic fact in the US. In pure mean and quantity.

Not clear on how showing that you're willing to argue a position that you don't have any background or evidence to support is a positive.

Perhaps it is useful in any industry where a key competence is convincing people of things that are not true.

And for good reason

Reading the comments, might be because of the lack of literacy on this topic in this venue

Then do educate us instead of posting passive-aggressive comments! This is hacker news, not biohacker news, it's not really surprising that most people here (including myself) are not very knowledgeable on the subject.

Raising literacy on a topic is beyond the scope a post on HN but observing that it is low is not.

Biohacker news is a subclass of hacker news and adhering to good SOLID rules esp Liskov sub principle it’s permissible to talk about that stuff here without breaking the interface contract

Thanks! Much better this way, I think. What a story!

It's a feature of Boy Scouts and the patrol method, in which youth are encouraged to take on leadership positions for six-month periods.

> these $400k+ earning SEs are a double-digit percent of the engineers I know with 6+ years of experience (N > 10)

Well they would have to be, wouldn't they?

While I can't speak to 'all parents', I can say that as a parent of five, kids develop significantly differently. We've been treating our oldest daughter as basically an adult since she was 13 or 14; the next-oldest is getting there, at 15. Next couple down the line we have to monitor more closely.
