FCM and APN are the operators

JavaScript is actually the only reason that the iPhone has runtime code generation capabilities at all, so it kinda makes sense

If every atom in the universe had a universe inside each proton, there still wouldn’t be enough atoms within all the universes in the protons. In fact you might not make it to four arrows with the above lol

It’s almost certainly also tuned to prevent excessive or “spiky” traffic to their service.

The server that acts as the control plane needs to have full access to the outside internet. You can’t do NAT hole-punching through STUN if you are yourself behind a NAT.

(There is Headscale though)

I feel like “web wrapper” apps aren’t super popular nowadays. Most apps are either fully native or use something like React Native, that renders with native widgets.

chomping at the bit

Actually it was originally "champing" – to grind or gnash teeth. The "chomping" (to bite) alternative cropped up more recently as people misheard and misunderstood, but it's generally accepted as an alternative now.

I see

It’s actually accepted as the primary now and telling people about “champing” is just seen as archaic.

Do you have a source on this, or a definition for what it means to be "primary" here? All I can find is sources confirming that "champing" is the original and more technically correct, but that "chomping" is an accepted variant.

Doesn’t affect the validity of your comment whatsoever, but there was the attempt by the Browser Company to implement Arc on Windows in SwiftUI lol

You wouldn’t be able to use a Faraday case. The physics principle behind it requires it to surround the whole device which is being shielded.

The iPhone antennagate story would suggest that sometimes this isn’t the situation.

A faraday cage is different than your hand attenuating your phone signal

Attenuating RF is exactly what a Faraday cage does.

Though as you suggest, relying that would be a bad idea.

For some reason manually turning off RF transmission seems to have been ruled out, so we are looking for an unusual solution to the problem.

Apple would then force the with-IAP price to be the same as the without-IAP price so that they get a 30% cut of your rent regardless. You may be underestimating their willingness to tax all economic activity

While this would obviously be harmful to the consumer, I don't see this as plausible.

Amazon was able to achieve this by positioning themselves as the primary distributor of the goods in question. Apple is in no position to leverage a monopoly over fiat transer or housing supply.

With regard to municipal transportation, perhaps they are edging closer with Apple Pay, NFC, Wallet, etc.. but I can't imagine municipalities supporting, or constituents accepting, a tax on their existing taxes.

Of course, maybe Apple.gov is the long game. Hard to say whether that would be better or worse that the status quo..
