Yes now it gave me that. Not sure why it didn’t before.

Event horizon and terminator 1 are more horror than sci fi

The Chronicles of Amber would be amazing and TV special Effects budgets are more than up for the challenge. Not to mention Zelzany’s work can’t really be continued in written form but an adaptation for film could have license to change some of the more ‘60’s anachronisms.

These were really good until he changed protagonists. I just couldn’t keep reading after that.

I do respect the recognition that leveling up the protagonist every installment eventually leads to godlike beings fighting each other at a level that humans would be vapourised by mere proximity.

The Dresden Files, say, appears to be running out of headroom for Dresden to be able to throw down without actually wiping Chicago from the map permanently.

Yeah, Bob leveled up a _lot_.

I'd love to see a treatment of the Laundry with a long slow build that turns out to be the ramp to an exponential progression to Case Nightmare Green.

So the actual Laundry Files?

Let me introduce you to the Star Wars Customizable Card Game by Decipher. It lasted from 1995 until 2001 when Lucasfilm sold toy rights to… Hasbro. Hasbro made a terrible card game to replace it for Episode 2 that has fallen into obscurity. The original game still lives on with a Players Committee and new virtual sets. Compared to Magic the game was a niche of a niche and still exists. If magic ever ‘dies’ I am sure there will be a huge community that steps up to keep it alive.

I am also curious as to how. I have been using CTRL-c for quite some time and even remapped sublime vintage mode to use it on Windows when I am. It using Vim.

See my reply to the other comment.

I you had said Acid Rain i would have thought you were quoting Bill Murrays Scrooge promo from Scrooged.

You’re the first person I have heard that from. We’re there any plots in particular that you thought were worse (barring man with the golden gun as that was contrived and I am not sure if Fleming even truly finished it before his death)?

Sadly, the reader probably figures out "Moonraker" within a few chapters.

In Fleming's "Goldfinger", Goldfinger is actually trying to steal the gold from Fort Knox. It was much more realistic to have him instead trying to destroy the gold to increase scarcity.

Say what you want about the film "Live and Let Die" but reading Fleming trying to write "jive" was just embarrassing.

The one I remember best was "The Spy Who Loved Me", where the plot of the novel is about a woman in a cabin or something and the relation to the movie is... Zero.

But it wasn't the plots that I thought were worse, but the writing itself.

Don’t act like re-toothing a crosscut saw is some easy process and everyone has all the tools available :) at a minimum you need the correct needle files, a saw set, a bastard file, some kind of vice preferably a saw vice, and the skill on what pitch and yaw to file at. Hand saw sharpening like most woodworking is a lovely ‘rabbet’ hole.

Edit: this was meant as a bit of tip of the hat to anyone who can sharpen a crosscut panel saw, not snark.

I never said it's easy if you have nothing yet. But it's satisfying ;)

And yes, I started by building Paul's workbench actually. I built the version that uses regular old 2x4s and 2x6x glued together. He also has a version using plywood. I built it using only hand tools I bought off Ebay and the "work bench" I used to build that was just some old Ikea table I had. You might use a couple of cheap saw horses and a sheet of plywood. Heck you can make the saw horses using just 2x4s and hand tools without any "bench" and go from there. https://paulsellers.com/paul-sellers-workbench-plans/ and his first video literally starts with "How do you make a work bench when you don't have a work bench to make it on. Here you are on your knees ...". But there's also a video on his channel where he actually makes on of these in his back yard like I mentioned.

And yes, I bought files, both to get rid of the existing, bad, teeth and cut in the new teeth. Also a tooth setting tool for the left/right 'bending'. I only did that once I had his work bench finished and a vise mounted to it. No "saw vice" (whatever that is) needed. FWIW, I've only had to sharpen my rip cut saws so far though. Cross cut will be harder, yes. Looking forward to it!

Also I see you meant your reply in a good way, i.e. yes, I'm way down the rabbet hole. I do have a manual router from Lee Valley ;)

Totally anecdotal but I am thinking that this is due to the long delay between seasons. I think this is happening with many shows that have these multi year hiatus style productions. There is so much great media out there that trying to get back in to something that is almost two years old takes a lot of effort.

And with complex highly serialized shows that you maybe didn’t follow fanatically, you’ve sort of forgotten what was going on 18 months previously.
