If I lose the device that has all my passkeys, I wouldn't be able to login into my emails either.

Not in the western countries yet, I guess. I live in Thailand and have accounts in two banks and both of them only allow usage through an app that's only available through the App/Play store. Android version of Krungthai's bank app freaks out if you have developer settings enabled (even without changing anything, just enabling the access is enough to lock you out). And to use that app in the first place, you have to go to a branch and have staff set the app for, as passing the facial scan checks is impossible for foreigners.

I swear I've been reading about overbuilding in China since, like, 2012. And I've definitely used it in arguments myself. Not only China hasn't collapsed, but it has improved massively since then, as far as I can tell.

The US also had a period of time in which their government directed large construction projects, and they too were particularly prosperous in the time afterwards.

Pretty sure even back then, uBO was on the list of vetted extensions. I remember using it prior to 2023 (since like 2019), on my old OnePlus 6. There may have been a period it wasn’t available, but surely it wasn’t gone for too long.

Is it really love if it hinges on the presence of high quality stereo equipment? Also, I have a friend who has similar stuff out in the open and is happily married.

>You'd somehow have to prove you didn't look at it, ever, or at least be trusted enough for people to take your word for it.

How could one prove a negative? It's supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, isn't it? They'd have to prove that you've looked at the spec files.

> innocent until proven guilty

In the US at least, for criminal cases, the burden of proof for guilt is "beyond a reasonable doubt". For civil cases they are much more lenient and use the "reasonable person" standard.

It’s funny, because Zach Barth (of SpaceChem and many other wonderful games fame) worked at Valve and then described them as the ideal anarcho-communist type of organization.

oh that's funny. do you have a link to where he had said that?

i guess Yanis Varoufakis did work at Valve, so there's some basis. but then again, what an organization is internally and how the organization behave as a whole can be different.

He said it in this recent interview. I'm not sure of the timestamp, somewhere in the middle, I think. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ho0F_jdfSs&t)

Latest Ratchet and Clank game relies heavily on ps5’s nvme drive. Its PC port states that SSD is required. And IIRC, the experience on mechanical drives is quite terrible to the unplayable level.

I wish they'd put this much effort into the app itself. Line is by far the worst messaging app I've ever used (and I have no choice, but to use it). Files and photos expire and disappear, giant ads in the UI, chats that disappear, notifications and calls that fail to show up on the receiving side (happened to me both on iOS and Android), inane process of transferring chats to a new device or the chats will just disappear, PC app that logs me out every single day (somehow Telegram and Signal stay logged in just fine).

Exactly this. Instead of inventing another useless typeface noone is gonna use (I am pretty sure there are numerous typefaces exist that excel for Thai and Japanese languages) they would better work on simple case chats backup that's doesn't work if you move the app cross OS.

I also have to use LINE every day, and I can't say I love it (but it's either this or Facebook). They've been trying to push LINE Premium and LINE AI very hard (at least in Japan) to the point that some features are now blocked (e.g. you cannot unsend photos anymore unless you pay for Premium) and I absolutely hate it.

I hate the expiring photos/videos in message threads too. Overall the UX is clunky. I also use Wechat everyday, and even though their UX is also pretty clunky, it's still somehow efficient, and doesn't it bother me as much as having to use Line.

Is the movie thing even actually true? I was watching HBO's The Penguin recently and all characters are using iPhones (not in every scene, phones keep changing, but in many scenes it's clearly an iPhone), including the Penguin himself and his direct rival. Unless Apple makes a distinction for tv shows for some reason.

https://people.com/apple-no-villain-clause-for-iphones-onscr...

Is it specifically an iPhone? Is the Apple logo visible in any screen? Or is it something like https://www.theearlhayspress.com (Adam Savage's Tested - https://youtu.be/0TS6x8dK2u0 )
