Yeah, I have definitely noticed that a lot of Americans on HN would rather flag uncomfortable articles about their country.

Do I misunderstand or does your page count today's downtime as minor? I would not count the web UI being mostly unusable as minor. Does this mean GitHub understates how bad incidents are? Pr has your page just not yet been updated to include it?

Today's isn't accounted for on that page yet

They do not want to solve the problem, they want to collect our IDs. If they would have wanted to actually solve it they would not have done this on legislations where it is not a requirement.

I am personally totally fine with it but I see your point. Github is a bit too big for often braking with a cutsey error message even if it is a reference to their web server.

Not any longer. It used to but the outages have become very common. I am thinking about moving all my personal stuff to Codeberg.

Several quite big projects have moved to Codeberg. I have no idea how it has worked out for them.

I would have said Codeberg’s reliability was a problem for them but… gestures vaguely at the submission

Zig has been doing fine since switching to Codeberg

LOL Codeberg's 'Explore' link is 503 for me!

Having used both I think you are way too kind on Teams.

I've used both and written code to integrate into both. You never have to worry about, for example, losing access to all previous messages in your Teams channels if you get a new phone.

Care to give me an example to satisfy my morbid curiosity? I have used a lot of really bad chat clients over the year and Microsft's rewritten Skype is one of only a handful worse than Teams. Teams is not the worst but it is on my top 3 or 5 worst of the 30+ chat clients I have used. I have heard Lynk also was really bad but I never used it. Microsoft certainly has some of the worst.

Element is bad but it is way better than Teams from my experience.

For sure. But without a cohesive vision throwing money at it can only make it worse if it does anything at all.

Looking at examples it looks way more like incompetence.
