Neat!

(I would still not call it "just fine" in terms of normal app usage, but it makes my life easier so I thank you for that :)

To make that easier, I use stow.

I managed to get Google Maps working on my Nokia 3310 3G

Did you? How long was it loading? :-))

Floating is for boats.

What do we need our passion for? To motivate ourselves? IMO, we have a problem when we expect to feel motivated to do stuff.

I think we need to learn to do stuff even if we "don't feel it" yet, that state comes later as a reward for doing.

Long ago I read an article that made me think about this: http://www.wisdomination.com/screw-motivation-what-you-need-...

No doubt going on passion alone is foolhardy, but you'll be less productive if you hate what you do.

I know more than a few people who avoid seeking jobs they enjoy because they feel "work should be miserable and hard". I don't understand them at all.

Fantastic! Can you please add keyboard shortcuts? :D

There's a post on building Docker images with Nix: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=11502989

I don't know for sure, but I think it's installed under /nix thinking of multi-user Nix installs. With Nix any system user can install its own set of packages and on NixOS there are build users that install packages on behalf of normal users.

Did you know that a malicious server can detect if you are piping to a shell and serve a completely different thing? D:

How so? By looking for a curl UA?

No. The shell is slower processing the download. You can detect this on the server. See https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=11532599

Yes. I'm unconfortable doing this as well. Not only with Nix, I really think you shouldn't do it, ever. On Ubuntu/Debian, at least, I'm installing the .deb package.
