WhatsApp and Messenger contribute relatively little to ad revenue.
So facebook.com alone must be generating around $100B revenue annually.
It's impossible that something generating this revenue is serving AI generated NSFW teens pics with botnets commenting on those pictures only.
Real humans must be engaging with real ads at massive scale to make this money.
Failure mode for people reporting "I didn't use fb for a while, then I come back and see adult-like dominated content" sounds like plausible explanation of ad revenue optimized algo with weak, singular signal.
I may be wrong, it may be just cold start problem where algo has zero engagement signal and yields thirst traps for { gender: male, age: ~30s, engagement_history: [] } state.
But it's hard for me to believe that - frankly it doesn't sound like the best output if you want to capture somebody who has real friends and family in their network, did the algo really learned that people with this input state click likes on pics like that?
Why not just serve engagement from friends network or even "wish happy birthday to X tomorrow" instead – sounds like better way to engage to me.

I support that. If you tried doing the inverse, for example, migrate to an Islamic country and bring over Christianity there, you would not be welcomed at all. I’m an expat and one thing I’ve learned is to integrate myself with the culture of the country that adopted me, I believe this shows respect and that I am aligned with its values and principles.
This is the trap that the western world has set up for itself. You cannot destroy countries on the grounds that your society is better and that it's worth the destruction to make them be like yourself, and then at the same time say forget about it when it's time to actually be better and more tolerant.

Now, is this applicable to all Muslims? Of course not. But don't be naive and think that no one has an agenda. Case in point, my family has Muslims (Shia) and there are some of them I wouldn't want in the West.
No one is advocating for an immigration ban here, or is attempting to bar Muslims. Suggesting caps and enforcing sane limits is a good thing. Nations need to vet their applicants thoroughly before letting them in.
As a final note, I think that immigration is a band-aid for the population collapse in the West. The real issue is the underlying culture change. Perhaps a better avenue is to focus inward and promoting family values instead of outwards to resolve the issue?

Inwards is the right answer, but it's not about lack of family values. It's the lack of stability and belief that people can give a good life to their offspring. We need to retreat from this capitalistic consume everything social structure and kids will naturally flow.

Met a Copt the other day: Seemed content and had no complains. Spoke to a Rūm a while ago, and despite the recent turn of events, they seemed optimistic about the Levant. I think they have a right to decide how they want their values and culture to be defined, and they can choose to start enforcing those at any given moment in however way they deem appropriate and necessary. Yes, it’s unfortunate to need immigration for your economy, but not at the sake of your values, customs, traditions, and principles.
I modestly propose a much better solution. 99% of perpetrators of sexual assault are men. Let's just ban all males regardless of race. Given the statistics, why would you want any men in your country?
Banning a gender is much less practical than banning people from another country (I'm not explicitly defending the parent - analogies are just mostly bad and distracting).
I haven't tried out https://hapi.run/, but I've tried similar things and in my experience Omnara is much more reliable than the other solutions, as well as I enjoy the UX of Omnara much more. Give it a try, it's one command to set up and the free tier gives you everything that the paid tier does, so you can decide if you like it before paying!
I mean messages drop or stall, or syncing doesn't work, or I can't get through setup at all. But I'm sure all these solutions have improved greatly since I've tried them, I tried these things much earlier on.

Surely it would look suspicious, and if it turns out it is official, it doesn't somehow mean there's no issue, if anything it's worse because it untrains users' security protocols.
Personally I'd ignore anything that comes out of one of these domains, even if it turns out an actual employee pushed it, if you can't publish something on the main domain, you don't have enough authority to speak for the company, may be skunkworking to avoid an internal protocl, I don't know, I don't care, it's not official, don't need to read it.
I don't think this is the same thing though, in their documentation the subdomain has to be for the owner or organization, so if it's `github.github.io` then it belongs to the `github` organization [1]
Though I guess I do get your point, meaning that this leads to people trusting the domain name if they are uneducated about how GitHub Pages works.
