If this was 2016, wasn't he employed by Google at the time?

One of them (Patterson & Hennessy) was, and the other was (is?) chairman of the board, I forget which.

I'm not a fan of Tesla's approach to self driving, but

> If they simply dumped an extra $50K of material into every single one of those cars without raising the price a dime, that would be only $425 billion. That's a ridiculous sum of money, but still <checks notes> substantially less than [their market cap of] $1.3 trillion.

That is an apples to dishwasher comparison. Money is fungible only when it's the same kind of money on both sides. You can't compare market cap like that. (Even for a company whose market cap is seemingly divorced from reality like Tesla's)

Probably reaaaallly depends on the organ.

Some of the very old very large ones have some strength+endurance requirements.

Much newer ones with electronic actions and whatnot don't have any such problems.

Majority of organists are men (in the US at least).

My wife plays the organ; it looks like dark voodoo magic, with two hands and two feet flying at the same time and so many different types of sounds coming out. She sticks entirely to electric organs.

Yea in fact this thing has been done before multiple times as exhibitions (Kasparov vs 50k, Carlsen vs 132k, etc).

And yea, no surprise, the masses do not win. Even when in the latter case, a huge chunk of the 132k was obviously using stockfish cranked to the gills (though the did get a draw out of it?).

Straw man?

This article I think is about a very specific subset of software stocks.

If you're holding say a total market index fund, or s&p500, or even qqq or many tech index funds, this would get hidden by the so-far very good growth on other tech stocks.

Is there really that much poop on Berlin public transit?

Seattle has some of the highest per capital homeless in the US, and a dearth of public toilets, and yet there's not that much poop on our public transit.

I am also skeptical that y'all's violent crime rate is higher than ours.

Granted I haven't taken Berlin public transit in 20 yrs, so I don't know.

> I am also skeptical that y'all's violent crime rate is higher than ours.

Ok well I am wrong. Berlin's violent crime rate is 2-4x higher than Seattle? Huh. The homicide rate is within touching distance.

That was not what I expected, ok.

It wouldn't take much to have more violent crime in Seattle, according to my gut (yeah, I know, "show me the numbers"). Granted, it's probably gotten worse since we moved here 25 some years ago, but coming from places like my old hometown of Indianapolis, Seattle didn't have any place I wouldn't feel comfortable walking at night. Again, it's changed a lot since (there are some areas I would avoid at 2 a. m. now), but I still feel much safer in Seattle than other large cities.

Yea I agree it's not like Seattle is St Louis or anything.

Still, I just naively assumed that major German cities would be even better. Guess not though.

I’d put Berlin ubahn halfway between nyc and japan in terms of cleanliness and orderly behavior, the bigger problem is that there’s no ac in the summer

its mostly pee and vomit, poo is indeed rare.

Didn't see any poop in berlin, but did see it in Shibuya station, spread out by hundreds of people.

That seems like incredible overkill for a 1950s era bomber jet, no?

It can be reused.

Guinness book of world records lists a 7+ hour unassisted spin of a wooden top, and a mechanical-assist (like this one) of 41+ hours

How long would a better battery go here?

I'm curious what the jump from 2-> 40+ hours requires

Vacuum chamber?

No doesn't appear so. Seems to be just in open air. They've got a kickstarter done for one that does 6+ hours

Guess it's cnc milled, maybe that's part of it. Increase mass of the thing? Idk

he is also using development boards wired together rather than a custom pcb. there's a good chance the choice of passive components, removal of unneeded components, and better optimized power converters can improve the design.

Also assumes no income based repayment on debt
