Buy the car you can afford by paying in cash, or a small enough loan that even 10% will be manageable.

This isn't the American way apparently, do you want to be a True American Patriot or some loser driving a shitbox

I still remember the first thing my bank offered me as a student in the US, a credit card, 25%+ apr, give that to a 18 years old clueless kid and you'll set them up for failure. The entire system is setup to make you think these interests rate are normal and that being in debt is a proper lifestyle

Hm... I've just checked on amazon.de and it's still available in several versions.

I suspect once the stock is depleted, it will be delisted there as well.

Wow, that writer was definitely being paid by the word.

As a regular tourist visiting Greece the slow internet in tourist areas is "a feature, not a bug" for me. It allows me to stay connected, download during the night some podcast shows and stream music. Video is painfully slow which motivates me to hang out with people or read books. Lovely.

It's fine for you because you get to leave the country as your vacation ends. That's a terrible take for the rest of us who arent so lucky.

- Sent from my phone, which is glued to the window because it's the only spot where i can get enough bars for my mobile connection. I 'm waiting for the landline (50mbps DSL) for 4 months.

May I ask what sort of environment you’re in? Apartment/detached home? Athens? City? Island?

i m in an apartment inside the city, not some remote place. no provider offers better service (in fact i switched provider to maybe speed up things)

I recalled the big WiFi sign in the middle of the Torres del Paine trek. When you come closer it says in spanish: "no wifi, enjoy the nature"

But presumably they want to have some advanced industry of their own and not just be a theme park for tourists?

I mean at the moment the choice for young Greeks is basically government work, hospitality, or move abroad.

There are some occasionally good opportunities in Thessaloniki and Athens in IT, however since covid, I think it would be great for the local economy if we could get more remote based work on the islands, besides the tourist based economy.

It isn't easy, though.

Yep.

The author of the post thoroughly covers the Greek startup & tech ecosystem.

It's growing, impressively so considering the last decade, but is going to be hitting limits like these internet speed issues if it's going to keep growing.

I read 99% percent accuracy in a given time. For 1% the algorithm could ask the user for patience and perform a "deeper" search increasing its overall accuracy.

There are cheap bluetooth dongles with female audio port that a pair of headphones could be plugged turning them into bluetooth headphones. Calls will most probably not work, though.

And it gives you yet another device to charge, reduces your sound quality and introduces audio delay. None of which is a problem with wired headphones.

I'm feeling like a dinosaur pointing out that I still have headphones which just work and there is literally nothing wrong with them. I own two pairs of bluetooth headphones too, and they are great - but let's not kid ourselves, there are drawbacks to it too.

It's on the expensive side, I know, but have you considered using bitrise.io?

Thanks for the tip. We have considered it. Its likely the place to go once we iron out development/product. Its just unfortunate that the basics of such a CI setup is trivial to set up "in-house", for everything except software targeting apple hardware.

Not an option for many from a privacy/security standpoint.

They have few hundreds developers in Belgrade, Serbia https://www.linkedin.com/showcase/digitec-galaxus-doo/. I'm very proud of their work.

First class wagons are used exactly for that, to show the wealth.

Not really. I often take 1st class because 2nd class is full and I'd have to stand for 2 hours and the difference is 5-10 USD.

It would be interesting to see the ration between the Arab Israelis wishing to marry an Arab from WB/Gaza and Jewish Israelis wishing to marry a Jewish from WB/Gaza. Laws make sense in a context of a society.

There is a fundamental difference between a law that prohibits a specific ethnicity from doing X, and a law that prohibits everyone from doing X, but a specific ethnicity/minority is more affected by it than others. The former is pretty much never legitimate, while the latter is often unavoidable, and I imagine exists to some extent in any country with minorities.

This law very explicitly discriminates against non-Jewish Palestinians (and Lebanese and a few others). It also disproportionately affects Israeli Arabs and others who are much more likely than Israeli Jews to have spouses who would be discriminated against by this law.

in the first case he's on the hook in Serbia, not in Australia

in the second case, these documents resolve to an official Serbian covid certificate web page and it's the country of Serbia responsibility to explain to other countries in the world how that was possible to happen and to find out who did it

now, the fact that Novak visited Spain and his agency "forgot" to mention it in the PLF that's a leverage that could be used
