I don't think the person getting flagged is always deserving of the dogpile. Your comment implies "you should take this time in timeout to think about your actions" which is just a gentler form of rhetorical struggle sessions, and not always warranted.

For sure. I've had comments flagged that I thought were perfectly reasonable and non-controversial. My first reaction was to be angry and annoyed. But then my kinder angels suggested that perhaps I phrased my idea poorly and people misunderstood that I was largely agreeing with them, or at least very respectfully disagreeing. And then I decided to be more careful with my phrasing next time.

Great, we've got a lot of statues to patch.

At the beginning of work from home, I was confident that a lot of these big companies would maybe close a few locations but have coworking spaces available for those who prefer the office. You could have an amount of spaces spoken for, for people who need an anchored space, and you could have communal areas and open rooms with shutting doors for people who want to pop in and get a space.

Hey, I am trying to reach you privately. Can you send me an email? julien _at_ serpapi.com. Thank you!

I think as more people were able to work from home, they moved to areas that were cheaper as they no longer had to be near california.

shouldn't that trend have reversed in the past year as coming in to the office is emphasized?

The trick with many RTO orders is that people are often exempt if they managed to move more than X miles from the nearest HQ.

Depends on how many people switched to fully remote jobs when faced with mandatory return-to-office

Watson got layed off too? Ruthless.

or just hand out invites to people on hn who have an email listed.

i just deployed a "account_enabled" feature so i'll manually approve new accounts coming in to post, but in the meantime you can make your account again

Yeesh. Sad that people seem so determined to prove that you can't have nice things. Hopefully you don't get too discouraged. Happy though that you let my registration through. Kind of expected that my habit of using random usernames would get me flagged.

Site looks great, btw.

Even if it looks like the 2000’s it’s clearly the 20s, where you cannot even post your site on a civilized forum without attracting the trolls…

Anyway, I made a pending account now :)

Walk in, 'user is on probation for this post'. Just like home :) Good luck with it

How are these sourced?

There are a few projects that subscribe to GitHub's event firehose, I'd guess that:

* https://github-firehose.libraries.io/

* https://github.com/timeline

Seems like just a swear word is enough.

0 of my commits are there, which is why I asked.

Can you still use LiLo these days on a systemd enabled system?

Do these extensions track the dislikes externally, or do they somehow bring it back on YouTube's side?

they track externally and extrapolate, so it's skewed based on audience (they also made a 'backup' from when yt still showed them)

still, I found it more useful than not

VC is a fading model. Might be rude to say it here, but at least call it what it is. Money costs more than ever, why take on that stress?

> Money costs more than ever

The Fed funds rate, which is the rate banks charge each other for overnight loans, hit 20 percent in 1980, and 21 percent in June 1981.

Finance does not exist in an idempotent vacuum

Did you take that to mean that every other interest rate was low at the same time? Mortgage rates were over 18%

You're the one making a claim with nothing to back it up.

What's the next model?
