I'm working on https://fractalchat.ai
It's an LLM chat interface but instead of single linear thread, in each message you can create anchors that branch off into subthreads. Useful for for digging into related subtopics/tangents without losing the parent thread's context.
Book about Dan Colussy, who somehow managed to rescue Iridium satellite network when it was weeks away from bankruptcy and being deliberately crashed into the ocean.
Is there a music-generating AI that takes audio as input? I’m looking to upload simple guitar melodies or chord progressions I’ve doodled and receive an enhanced version back. Similar to how image generators turn doodles/sketches into polished drawings.
I have these pesky touch typing habits that slow me down: pressing a key and its Shift key with the same hand, or not alternating hands for the spacebar. So I've built an app designed to fix these problems. The idea is to show correct shift keys and correct hand for spacebar to press.
OSX still isnt resolution independent like Windows 7 is for example. The interface would be tiny on a 13" running 1680x1050. I think thats one of the main reasons they dont go for higher resolutions.
I've got 1920x1200 on my 2007 MBP, which is the older 'higher resolution screen' option for the MBP, and OSX' resolution dependence is a serious pain in the butt. I've been holding off on upgrading my MBP until some progress is made in this department, but it looks like it won't be for another year.
The Vaio Z has an option to get 1920x1200 (or is it 1920x1080?) last time I looked and it is only 13" I believe. It does come at cost though and does not run Mac OS X. However, the option is there. I think the default is even 1600x900 which is still better than 1280x800. Which is what I'm stuck with since I currently have the 13" Macbook Pro.
I wish Apple would increase the resolution also, I've been holding off upgrading as well. I'm tempted to even go as far as getting the 17" with the higher resolution next time. Then again, I would have to buy all new laptop bags since none of mine would fit and I'm kind of a bag fiend, I go for those nice Waterfield Designs bag and currently love my Muzetto. Buying another, larger version would not be cheap.
Perhaps for some people. I would love it though. I can fit so much more on my screen making me feel greatly more productive. For example, having 4 vim split windows open and viewable all at once.
I don't think ~3 months is enough to build a profitable business. I know a person who learnt programming and built a working program in 8 months or so. It was either an audio converter or id3 tag converter or something like that.
What I would do is get programming experience by building real, bigger programs and simultaneously try to get a job as a junior programmer at (preferably) small company with good programmers.
Thanks for sharing. As far as I know there is no double tax treaty between Brazil and the US. Does this mean you will have to pay income tax twice?
Also very interested to know how did you get a US bank account. As far as I know it is not possible to do it remotely since Patriot Act has been passed.
I managed to set one up last week with Wells Fargo. They wouldn't set up a credit account without a SSN, but I have check and savings. Granted, it was because I'm moving there next week, but the process only took an hour, and a few scanned documents.
Since we're not in the U.S. (yet) we do not need to pay taxes twice. We work from brazil as contractors to our U.S. company.
So the company pays taxes in the U.S. and the individuals pay income taxes in Brazil.
The US doesnt have any double tax treaties. If you are Brazil resident, but have US income you may well be double taxed if you are employed in the US. If you are not Brazil resident then Brazil wont tax you. Only the US taxes non resident citizens I think.
In our case we have a board member that lives in the U.S. and helped us with the U.S. address. We also have a virtualpostmail address for mailing purposes only.
