I'm wondering if running Doom in PDF files might be achievable, or is that a step too far away?

Probably in the domain of technically possible but good luck trying to get it to run fast enough and with little enough memory that the PDF engine doesn't crash.

It's definitely achievable, and it even runs with a playable framerate: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42678754

I found this overview of https://emacs.zeef.com better to find quickly Emacs resource you might need.

Every link just reloads the site. For me, at least.

Autokey is a good alternative. But it depends on your window manager, for example, you might benefit from xbindkeys or i3 config.

I am highly surprised how many times i3 is mentionned in all the comments.

Maybe https://emacs.zeef.com might be your friend? There are some tutorials listed there for Emacs.

Not to spamming, but https://emacs.zeef.com was a valuable resource for me to find many Emacs packages and communities to my liking.

The performance lag of Spacemacs was addressed by Doom Emacs ( https://github.com/hlissner/doom-emacs ). Have you tried Doom Emacs by any chance. After syncing everything, the performance is stellar in my opinion.

Emacs has have more than 300 games, I believe. You can find a large deal of them on https://emacs.zeef.com/

This collection page of Emacs packages: https://emacs.zeef.com contains only packages which are last updated at least 2 years ago, and it's already an impressive amount to me, which indicates that Emacs community is also very active, despite having - in IT terms- a very ancient editor.

s/despite/due to/

Ancient, stable platforms enable long-termism, which encourages scratching your itches - whatever you write, it will likely keep working until after you're dead.

Perhaps this might be interesting to anyone which wants to give Emacs a try: https://emacs.zeef.com

Good question. Perhaps you could refer 'newbies' to https://emacs.zeef.com where they might find out what fits their needs?

I think that is the type of overkill options galore we are trying to avoid.
