This is really nice actually i would love to use it. I search for a tool like this long time ago. I use Whatsapp web so when i download some files from it, it can be auto renamed right based on date, its like that right?
It would be nice if you can expand the supported file such as excel or power point. Also i don't know for others, but on my machine the setting is in dark mode and the selection text is white make it the same as the background. I need to hover to it to actually read the text. Its not significance, but it would be nice if you can fix it.
It is intended that way, and the date of download can be in the front or end of the filename. However, Chrome API has been tricky to use. I am not sure if it can intercept downloads from WhatsApp Web. The extension cannot deal with downloads from some websites like Github based on our test.
Now I feel that we should've probably developed the desktop version with local AI modals and there wouldn't be as many technical problems as we can deal with renaming after the file is downloaded.
The web APIs also makes supporting images, excels or other files a bit harder. We only get blob data and have to figure out how to turn such raw data back to files, so we can feed the content to cloud AI providers.

Honestly its not that different then the original HN beside the upvote rank. If you could make the post Reddit like, i think its already a good improvement. Make each post like, tittle then below it is a summary or little bit of the post description would be nice. Also is the Show HN part didn't have the new Show HN part?
The text placement is terrible. You could add like text placement format user can choose and perhaps premade custom template for it. This tool intended to make a simple presentation maker, but for me its faster if i take template online and just copy paste the text.
Isn't it faster if i just ask GPT the content divided by header and content, then i just need to find a template and copy paste it.
I don't know about that, i usually use canva. Still the text placement is terrible, it stack on top of each other. My suggestion is, provide text format so the AI will place the text in that format. For example a block for heading and below it a block for content. Then the AI will generate the heading in the heading block and content in the content block. Or for ease of use, user can upload their desired template, then the output will use it. Though this might difficult to achieve.
Ah I got it. Thank you! I updated prompt for better text placement, and some models set it perfectly now. That's why I added model selector - you can get absolutely different results with different models
I get the idea and the UI also looks nice. But i think this is for repo owner with closed source licensing, GitHub just for more easy version control and backup. So it's like project selling but using GitHub for better ownership transfer and control?
Thanks! How it works is the owner posts a private repo they have. Then a user purchases it and they are automatically added as collaborators. Then buyer can fork it and use their own copy. There is no ownership transfer, seller gets paid for every collaborator basically
GitHub sponsor is donations in long term for open source projects. In this platform the repository ownership isn't transferred, and seller gets paid for every collaborator added and forked.
I don't think so. I do GitHub sponsor and i think its more sponsor then donation. The sponsor can get the reward specify by author. And one of the reward can be access to author private repository.
I think GitHub sponsor is more than donation. There is give and take between author and sponsors. Though it depends on the author to set up the reward and tier.
I believe selling a copy of your repo (software, solution, boilerplate) is more profitable than sponsors paying $2 once in a few month, and thats why I built this.
From my understanding, GitHub sponsor author can specify what tier sponsor can use so it not just monthly, it can be lifetime also. So author can specify, how much sponsor can paying each tier. For example, 50$ lifetime mean only paying once and get the reward.
Your website looks nice but if you ask me which one to choose between GitHub built in or GitHub third party, i would choose GitHub built in instead which GitHub sponsor.
If you ask me for suggestion, maybe instead of made site to sell repo, i think it's better to make site that can monetize repo. Maybe repo owner will get commission per download served from your site. This way, your site can be used not only to monetize repo but also to showcase good repo.
If you go commission per download, maybe the repo owner can specify on their release to download from your site. So the release will not has any download, instead the download is from your site. This way, your site can get more traffic because if user want to download from repo owner, they need to visit your site first.
For how you can commission repo owner, i don't really sure. Maybe, put ads from Adsense or company on your site or on the download redirect. For example, 'your download will begin shortly, while waiting check out this product (showcase ads)'. Another way or addition, you can made a premium member for your site, where they don't need to wait for downloading, but off course you need to split the revenue from premium member to repo owner, maybe like Quora where if your repo downloaded from premium member, then your commission will be much higher.
Well this is just what i have in mind while typing this. I think this way you have more target audience for you, such as open-source repo owner or simply someone who want to browse or find good GitHub project, or user from author repo who want to support author but cant do donation or sponsor. After all many open-source project is lack of funding.
I found a hole on add product. If the same link is filled twice it will not take it right. But if i made a single string different, it still able to take it.
We have the same vision. I use AHK myself and often find people who want to use it, but can't code it. So i made this to simplify things for me or to others. I use AHK for various occasion that need different script. With this, i don't need to code every time i want to make a new one.
It's unfortunate that AHK only works for Windows. I guess this is also one of it's downside. I heard it's complicated to make AHK work on another OS. If i am not mistaken, there is someone who make AHK for Linux. But i don't know how it goes now.
